Costa Rica Decrees “Good Saturday” An Easter Holiday!

easter-bunny-eggsVATICAN ENQUIRER – COSTA RICA – By presidential decree, the president of Costa Rica has declared the Saturday before Good Friday and Easter Sunday a legal holiday.

A statement from government house says that the holiday will be called “Good Saturday”

An source close to the Vatican Enquirer said the rationale for the change is that though many use Semana Santa as a week long holiday, the holiday for the “average” worker is only on Thursday and Friday; now employees will have off “Good Thursday”, “Good Friday” (legal holidays) and Saturday.

And since Easter Sunday being a Sunday, Costa Ricans will truly have a Semana Santa (Holy Week).
